Make-and-Take Indigo Dyeing

Instructor: The Indigo Squirrel

Description:

Dive into the Blues—Create Something Beautiful

Step into the world of indigo and experience the magic of turning plain fabric into something truly one-of-a-kind. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals of indigo dyeing, an ancient art known for its deep, mesmerizing blue tones.

With expert guidance, you’ll explore a variety of fun and beginner-friendly techniques—including traditional shibori, resist, and pole-dyeing—to design and dye your own set of four hand-dyed cotton napkins. (They make amazing gifts—but we won’t blame you if you keep them!)

All materials are included, and additional fabric will be available for purchase if you catch the creative bug and want to dye more. You may bring a cotton, linen, silk prince of clothing to overdye for an additional $15 per item. Please bring a bag or bin to bring your wet garment home in.

No experience necessary—just bring:
• A bagged lunch (or grab something from our cafe)!
• A picnic blanket
• Clothes you don’t mind getting a little messy!

No skills necessary. Come play, create, and have fun. Come alone or bring a friend.
