In Memory of Mr. Briggs

Paul Joseph ‘Pat’ Briggs

11/06/1936 – 03/20/2022

Paul Joseph ‘Pat’ Briggs, known to many of us as Mr. B and to some as a North Attleboro icon, passed away Sunday March 20, 2022. We want to take this moment to honor him and the legacy he has left us all with.

Mr. B grew up in Attleboro and was a 1956 graduate of Bristol Agricultural School in Rehoboth. He started his family business in Attleboro Falls in 1960 and moved to North Attleboro in 1962. Mr. B was a proud resident of North Attleboro and an active member of the community. A very busy man who greeted everyone with a warm hello, Mr. B was president of the former Kiwanis Club in North Attleboro, member of the Town Forest Committee, and Family Motor Coach Association in addition to many others.

He owned and operated Briggs Nursery for 62 years. He could be spotted daily eating at the cafe with friends and chatting throughout the store with customers. Known for being the Briggs Mailman, Mr. B always found time in his busy schedule to catch up on the newspaper. Staff enjoyed conversation with him and were always treated to a funny joke or a gum-ball from his gum-ball machine.

His work family was almost as large as his family, which included three siblings, six children, fifteen grandchildren, and his loving wife Barbara. Mr. B loved spending time with them and especially his pig Stinky (we all loved that pig).

Mr. B was the foundation of Briggs Nursery and we hope to honor his legacy by continuing what he has taught us.
